Developing Successful, Interdisciplinary Research Partnerships: Jan. 29, 2019

The recipients of the 2018 University of Miami Provost’s Research Award will share their insights on what worked for them, the rewards of interdisciplinary work, and how they are addressing real-world research questions in creative ways.

ETD Writing Resources Workshop: Jan. 30, 2019

Knowing the requirements that graduate students must fulfill in order to complete the electronic thesis and dissertation (ETD) submission process is key to a successful experience. Students join representatives from the Graduate School, UM Libraries, and the Writing Center for presentations about on-campus writing resources and the online submission process.

Preparing an Institutional Review Board (IRB) Protocol: Jan. 30, 2019

This seminar will review the key aspects of proper protocol submission to the IRB. Directed to graduate students, specific seminar topics will include the protocol submission process, required documentation, regulations, and strategies that can help investigators. The session will also delineate the actual workflow within the IRB system and how studies are processed by the Institutional Review Boards.

Responsible Conduct of Research Workshop: Feb. 9, 2019

Topics covered will include the mentor-mentee relationship, publication and authorship, and scientific misconduct, among others. The workshop will also include an overview of scientific writing.
