  • CFGS 2023 Registration

    Registration

    To register for the 2023 Conference of Florida Graduate Schools, please follow the steps below:

    1. Click the registration button below
    2. Once routed to the events page, please click the Buy Tickets button under the title
    3. Select the type and quantity of tickets and select the Continue button
    4. Complete the required registration questions and select the Continue button
    5. Add payment information and select Pay

     

    Individuals who register for the event will receive a confirmation email with a unique QR code that should be presented when checking into the conference.

    Student Early Bird Rate - $50

    Location

    CFGS 2023 will be held at Lakeside Village on the Coral Gables Campus at the University of Miami.

    Directions

    All routes below lead to the Pavia Parking Garage on the Coral Gables Campus. If you park in Pavia, it’s an easy walk to Lakeside Village. More information on parking can be found on our Parking and Transportation website.

    From Miami International Airport

    Take LeJeune Road south to Ponce De Leon Boulevard. Turn right on Ponce De Leon and travel about 1 mile to Stanford Drive, the main entrance to UM. Stop at the entrance gate for directions to the Pavia Parking Garage or continue on, turning left from Stanford onto Levante Avenue, then right onto Pavia. The garage is on your left.

    From Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport

    Take 595 West, which connects with I-95 South. Take I-95 South, which becomes U.S. 1. Continue about 5 miles. Turn right on Stanford Drive, the main entrance to UM. Stop at the entrance gate for directions to the Pavia Parking Garage or continue on, turning left from Stanford onto Levante Avenue, then right onto Pavia. The garage is on left.

    From I-95 North

    Head south on 95, which becomes U.S. 1 (South Dixie Highway).  Stay on U.S. 1 for about 5 miles to the UM campus. Turn right on Stanford Drive, the main entrance to UM. Stop at the entrance gate for directions to the Pavia Parking Garage or continue on, turn left from Stanford onto Levante Avenue, then right onto Pavia. The garage is on your left.

    From the Florida Turnpike

    Take the turnpike to Bird Road (SW 40th Street). Head east on Bird Road to Red Road (SW 57th Street). Turn right onto Red Road and continue onto Miller Road (SW 56 Street). Make a left turn and continue until you reach San-Amaro Drive. Make a right turn and continue until you reach Ponce-De Leon. Make a left turn onto Ponce and continue until you reach Stanford Drive (Main Entrance). You will be making a left turn onto campus. Stop at the entrance gate for directions to the Pavia Parking Garage or continue on, turning left from Stanford onto Levante Avenue, then right onto Pavia. The garage is on your left.

    From I-75

    Take I-75 to the 826 West exit. 826 West turns into 826 South; continue on 826 South until the Miller Drive exit (SW 56 Street). Head east on Miller to Red Road (SW 57 Avenue). Turn right onto Red Road and continue to Ponce de Leon Boulevard. Turn left on Ponce and go to Stanford Drive, UM’s main entrance. Stop at the entrance gate for directions to the Pavia Parking Garage or continue on, turning left from Stanford onto Levante Avenue, then right onto Pavia. The garage is on your left.

  • Hotel Accommodations

    THesis Hotel

    For individuals that need lodging accommodations, 100 hotel rooms have been blocked at the THesis Hotel, which is conveniently located on US-1 across from the University of Miami's Coral Gables campus. Block of rooms and rates can only be reserved based on remaining availability or by the March 18, 2023 deadline, whichever occurs first. 

    To reserve a room at the THesis Hotel please complete the following steps:

    1. Select the number of guests and rooms
    2. Confirm dates of stay 
    3. Select room accommodations 
    4. Enter payment information and confirm reservation 

     

    Daily room rates for April 17th and April 18th will be $199.00 +13% tax per night.

    The THesis Hotel provides valet parking for guests.

  • Ways to Travel between the Hotel and Campus

    CFGS 2023 is hosted at Lakeside Village on the Coral Gables campus. For those staying at the THesis Hotel, there are several ways to travel between the hotel and the event location. 

     

    Walking 

    On average, it takes about 6 minutes to walk between the THesis Hotel and the Univesity of Miami's Lakeside Village.

    Head northeast on US-1 North until you arrive at the pedestrian bridge. Walk across the pedestrian bridge and then cross Ponce de Leon street at the crosswalk at the stoplight. Once across, walk through the gate and parking lot (there is a walking path through the parking lot). When you get to the end of the parking lot, Lakeside Village will be on your right.

    Shuttle Services 

    On average, the shuttle buses hold 30-38 passengers per trip and will be on a continuous loop, returning every 15 minutes, during specific hours each day. Please refer to the Shuttle Service tab below for more details.   

    Self-Driving or Ride Share

    On average, it takes about 5 minutes to drive between the THesis Hotel and Lakeside Village. Parking is available at the Pavia Garage. To register for a parking permit, please refer to the Parking tab below.

  • Parking

    CFGS 2023 will be held at the Lakeside Village on the Coral Gables campus.

  • Shuttle Service

    A shuttle bus will run on a continuous loop from the THesis Hotel to Lakeside Village Expo Center during the following times:

  • Statewide Graduate Research Poster Symposium

    Each participating school can send eight students (two per poster category) to participate in the CFGS 2023 Statewide Graduate Research Poster Symposium on Tuesday, April 18th, 2:00-3:30pm.

    Categories

    • Arts and Humanities
    • Health and Life Sciences
    • Physical Sciences and Engineering
    • Social and Behavioral Sciences

    Guidelines

    Poster presenters will stand by their poster, explaining their research in 5-8 minutes per visitor/judge, and allowing an additional 5 minutes for questions and answers. Tacks to hang the posters will be provided. The University of Miami will not be responsible for poster printing costs.

    • No computers or extra aids may be used during a poster presentation.
    • The poster board dimensions will be 48''x36''.
    • Poster finishes (glossy, matte, etc.) are at the discretion of the presenter. 

    Participating students must sign-up by March 20, 2023. You will be required to include the following materials when completing the sign-up form: presentation title, 350-word abstract, and a professional headshot.

  • Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition

    Each participating school can send one student to participate in the CFGS 2023 Statewide Three Minute Thesis® (3MT) Competition on Wednesday, April 19th, 10:30am-12:00pm.

    Participating students must sign-up by March 20, 2023. Students will be required to include the following materials when completing the sign-up form: presentation title, PowerPoint slide, and a professional headshot.

    The Statewide Graduate Research Poster Symposium will take place on Tuesday, April 18th, and the Statewide 3MT Competition will take place on Wednesday, April 19th.

    To ensure this is a great experience for attendees, we need at least three judges from each institution for the poster symposium.
